Summary: | This book focuses on Renewable Energy (RE) governance - the institutions, plans, policies and stakeholders that are involved in RE implementation - and the complexities and challenges associated with this much discussed energy area. Whilst RE technologies have advanced and become cheaper, governance schemes rarely support those technologies in an efficient and cost-effective way. To illustrate the problem, global case-studies delicately demonstrate successes and failures of renewable energy governance. RE here is considered from a number of perspectives: as a regional geopolitical agent, as a tool to meet national RE targets and as a promoter of local development. The book considers daring insights on RE transitions, governmental policies as well as financial tools, such as Feed-in-Tariffs; along with their inefficiencies and costs. This comprehensive probing of RE concludes with a treatment of what we call the “Mega-What” question - who is benefitting the most from RE and how society can get the best deal? After reading this book, the reader will have been in contact with all aspects of RE governance and be closer to the pulse of RE mechanisms. The reader should also be able to contribute more critically to the dialogue about RE rather than just reinforce the well-worn adage that RE is a good thing to happen |

ABSTRACT / INHALTSTEXT
THIS BOOK FOCUSES ON RENEWABLE ENERGY (RE) GOVERNANCE - THE
INSTITUTIONS, PLANS, POLICIES AND STAKEHOLDERS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN RE
IMPLEMENTATION - AND THE COMPLEXITIES AND CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH
THIS MUCH DISCUSSED ENERGY AREA. WHILST RE TECHNOLOGIES HAVE ADVANCED
AND BECOME CHEAPER, GOVERNANCE SCHEMES RARELY SUPPORT THOSE TECHNOLOGIES
IN AN EFFICIENT AND COST-EFFECTIVE WAY. TO ILLUSTRATE THE PROBLEM,
GLOBAL CASE-STUDIES DELICATELY DEMONSTRATE SUCCESSES AND FAILURES OF
RENEWABLE ENERGY GOVERNANCE. RE HERE IS CONSIDERED FROM A NUMBER OF
PERSPECTIVES: AS A REGIONAL GEOPOLITICAL AGENT, AS A TOOL TO MEET
NATIONAL RE TARGETS AND AS A PROMOTER OF LOCAL DEVELOPMENT. THE BOOK
CONSIDERS DARING INSIGHTS ON RE TRANSITIONS, GOVERNMENTAL POLICIES AS
WELL AS FINANCIAL TOOLS, SUCH AS FEED-IN-TARIFFS; ALONG WITH THEIR
INEFFICIENCIES AND COSTS. THIS COMPREHENSIVE PROBING OF RE CONCLUDES
WITH A TREATMENT OF WHAT WE CALL THE “MEGA-WHAT” QUESTION - WHO IS
BENEFITTING THE MOST FROM RE AND HOW SOCIETY CAN GET THE BEST DEAL?
AFTER READING THIS BOOK, THE READER WILL HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ALL
ASPECTS OF RE GOVERNANCE AND BE CLOSER TO THE PULSE OF RE MECHANISMS.
THE READER SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE MORE CRITICALLY TO THE
DIALOGUE ABOUT RE RATHER THAN JUST REINFORCE THE WELL-WORN ADAGE THAT
“RE IS A GOOD THING TO HAPPEN”
DIESES SCHRIFTSTUECK WURDE MASCHINELL ERZEUGT.

This comprehensive probing of RE concludes with a treatment of what we call the “Mega-What” question - who is benefitting the most from RE and how society can get the best deal? After reading this book, the reader will have been in contact with all aspects of RE governance and be closer to the pulse of RE mechanisms. The reader should also be able to contribute more critically to the dialogue about RE rather than just reinforce the well-worn adage that RE is a good thing to happen Online-Ausgabe Online-Ressource (IX, 397 p. 40 illus) Springer eBook Collection / Energy Energieplanung (DE-588)4191686-4 gnd rswk-swf Wirtschaftlichkeit (DE-588)4066424-7 gnd rswk-swf Energiewende (DE-588)1210494086 gnd rswk-swf Energiemanagement (DE-588)4124833-8 gnd rswk-swf Erneuerbare Energien (DE-588)4068598-6 gnd rswk-swf Energiewende (DE-588)1210494086 s DE-604 Erneuerbare Energien (DE-588)4068598-6 s Energieplanung (DE-588)4191686-4 s Wirtschaftlichkeit (DE-588)4066424-7 s 1\p DE-604 Energiemanagement (DE-588)4124833-8 s 2\p DE-604 Reproduktion von Michalena, Evanthie Renewable Energy Governance 2013 Lecture Notes in Energy 57 (DE-604)BV040667788 57 https://doi.org/10.1007/978-1-4471-5595-9 Vollext Verlag Springer Fremddatenuebernahme application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=026908371&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Springer Fremddatenuebernahme application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=026908371&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Abstract 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
