Analysis
Structural Analysis is designed as a textbook for undergraduate students of civil
engineering for a two-semester course. The book provides a balanced coverage of
concepts, basic definitions, and analytical techniques in the field of structural analysis.
Beginning with the basic topics such as loads and forms of structures, analysis and
deflection of simple beams, and strain energy theorems, the book discusses specific
analysis methods for statically indeterminate structures, such as slope deflection,
moment distribution, and Kani s methods. It also discusses certain advanced topics such
as finite element method, plastic analysis of structures, and beams on elastic foundation.
The book contains a large number of worked-out examples and problems, which will
encourage independent problem solving among the readers. Undergraduate students of
engineering as well as practising professionals would find this book extremely useful due
to its exhaustive coverage of analysis techniques.
