The earliest documents are by Bell, a British government official who served in the region from 1904 to 1921. He wrote about Tibetan life and culture and Tibetan Buddhism. Hermanns was a Catholic missionary who wrote an ethnography on Tibetans in Qinghai Province with a focus on animal husbandry. Shen is a Chinese government official living in Lhasa before 1949 and writes about the Ge Lu Pa sect of Buddhism. Peter and Goldstein write about marriage. Goldstein also writes about serfdom, Chinese-Tibet relations between 1949 and 1996, Buddhism under Communism, and the post-collectivization era and reforms in western Tibet. Levine and Yeh also write about decollectivization among Tibetans living in western Sichuan Province and outside Lhasa, respectively. French writes about Tibetan law Tibetans Tibet (China)--Religion Tibet (China)--Ethnology Tibet (China)--Marriage Nomads--China--Tibet--Social life and customs Nomads--China--Tibet--Economic conditions Nomads--Government policy--China--Tibet Tibet (China)--Social life and customs Law--China--Tibet Customary law--China--Tibet Ethnological jurisprudence Tibeter (DE-588)4060037-3 gnd rswk-swf Tibeter (DE-588)4060037-3 s DE-604 French, Rebecca Redwood Sonstige (DE-588)1053350899 oth Shen, Zonglian 1898-1978 Sonstige (DE-588)1066281599 oth Bell, Charles Alfred 1870-1945 Sonstige (DE-588)123200652 oth Hermanns, Matthias 1899-1972 Sonstige (DE-588)1083289063 oth Petros Griechenland und Dänemark, Prinz 1908-1980 Sonstige (DE-588)1089723512 oth Goldstein, Melvyn C. 1938- Sonstige (DE-588)103574751 oth Levine, Nancy E.
