Nuclear
magnetic
resonance (NMR) on its own and in
conjunction with other analytical techniques
Many of the techniques utilized in analytical chemistry are used
individually to analyze samples directly. Nuclear magnetic reso¬
nance (NMR) is one such example, but for mixtures, initial sepa¬
ration of the constituent parts of a sample prior to analysis can
greatly facilitate detection and identification. LC-NMR and Other
Hyphenated NMRTechniques looks at ways in which NMR Spec-
troscopy can be used as a non-hyphenated or hyphenated tech¬
nique—that is alone or with other techniques—for the structural
determination analysis of organic material samples.
Covering both theory (NMR fundamentals and historical back¬
ground) and applications (degradation products, drug metabolism,
food analysis, natural products, drug discovery, and polymers),
the book contains information on the latest advancements and
applications of LC-NMR. It also looks in-depth at the various
techniques utilized in laboratories using LC-NMR methodology.
Demonstrating the pros and cons of NMR Spectroscopy when
used as a hyphenated or non-hyphenated technique, the book
has a wide audience—from scientists in industry and
academia
working in organic, analytical, and process chemistry, chemical
engineering, and other related fields, to non-experts in search of
a practical guide—and can also be used as a textbook in graduate
courses.
MARIA VICTORIA
SILVA
ELIPE, PhD, has worked as a principal
scientist and NMR expert in the Structural Elucidation Group at
Amgen Inc., since
2003.
She has over fourteen years of expe¬
rience in the NMR field for the pharmaceutical industry. She
has written over forty articles and has presented at twenty
conferences in the area of NMR Spectroscopy.
