IN DEN JAHREN 1939-1945
Zusammenfassung
Erinnerungen des Autors, der als Kind den Angrifft der Luftwaffe auf
Wieluń
am
frühen Morgen des 1. September 1939 erlebt hat. Während vier Flächenbombardierun¬
gen wurden nicht nur Wohnhäuser, sondern auch ein Krankenhaus, die Pfarrkirche und
die Synagoge erst mit Spreng- und danach mit Brandbombern zerstört. Die Stadt war
auf die Luftangriffe nicht vorbereitet, denn die erfolgten, bevor Deutschland den Krieg
erklärt hat. Als Folge des verbrecherischen Angriffs der Luftwaffe kamen ca. 1200 Zi¬
vilisten ums Leben und die Stadt wurde zu ca. 70% zerstört.
Wahrheitsgetreu und suggestiv beschreibt der Autor seine Erlebnisse während Lu¬
ftangriffe auf
Wieluń,
die Flucht der Bewohner aus der brennender Stadt und die gan¬
ze Grausamkeit der Okkupation: Verbrechen der Okkupanten, Erschießen der Juden
und Polen, Vertreibung und Verfolgung der Stadtbewohner.
Erinnerungen des Zeugen dieser Ereignisse stehen im Widerspruch zur allgeme¬
inen Meinung,
dass
der Zweite Weltkrieg am-1. September 1939 um 4.45 mit dem An¬
griff der deutschen Trappen auf Westerplatte begonnen hat. Erst seit einigen Jahren
durchschlägt sich im allgemeinen Bewusstsein in Polen und Europa das Wissen,
dass
Hitler- Deutschland seinen Angriff gegen Polen früher mit dem Massaker an der we¬
hrlosen Zivilbevölkerung in
Wieluń
angefangen hat.
Ein derartiges Verbrechen war nicht der erste Fall in der Geschichte des deutschen
Militarismus. Im Ersten Krieg griffen deutsche Streitkräfte vom 2. bis 4. August 1914
Kalisz
an. Die Stadt wurde bombardiert, verbrannt und völlig zerstört, viele Zivilisten
kamen ums Leben.
Von den Absichten des in Polen einmarschierenden deutschen Heers zeugt eben¬
falls die Tatsache,
dass
Wehrmachtsoldaten bei der Besetzung der Stadt
Wieluń
am
02. September 1939 einige ihre Bewohner hinrichteten, die es wegen des Alters oder
Gesundheitszustandes nicht vermochten, die Stadt rechtzeitig zu verlassen.

Summary
Memories of the author who as a child was a witness of the attack of the German
air force on
Wieluń
at daybreak on September
1st 1939.
During four-time carpet bom¬
bing of the town, not only the living quarters but also a hospital, parish-church and sy¬
nagogue were bombed with demolition and next incendiary bombs. The attack occur¬
red without war declaration, by Germany, that is why the town was not prepared for
those raids. As the result of the criminal attack of Luftwaffe about
1200
civilians died
and the town was demolished in about
70%.
The author describes truly and suggestively his experiences during the raids on
Wieluń,
escape of the inhabitants of the burning town from Germans and the whole
cruelty of the occupation: crimes of the invader, shooting of Jews and Poles, ejection
and persecution of the town inhabitants.
Memories of the witness of those events contradict the common opinion that
World War II started on September
1st 1939
with the attack of German forces on
We¬
sterplatte
at
4.45.
Only since a few years the knowledge that Hitlerite Germany star¬
ted the attack on Poland earlier, from the massacre of the unarmed civilians in
Wieluń
has being revealed itself with difficulty to the common consciousness in Poland and in
Europe.
Such crime was not the first case in the history of German militarism. During
World War I in the days of August
2-4, 1914,
the German forces bombed and burned
down
Kalisz,
as the result
ofthat
many civilians died and the town was completely de¬
molished,
The fact that the soldiers of
Wehrmacht
occupying the town on September
2nd
1939
performed a few executions on the inhabitants of
Wieluń
who, because of age or
health condition, had not left the town earlier is also the evidence of the intention of
the German army invading Poland.
