Zusammenfassung:One of the most highly regared architects in California, Scott Johnson is best known for his widely publicized tall building designs. Johnson teaches architecture at the University of Southern California and is the author of Figure/Ground: A Design Conversation and The Big Idea: Criticality and Practice in Contemporary Architecture. He and partner William Fain acquired the landmark Los Angeles architectural firm Pereira Associates, now known as Johnson Fain, in 1987. Mr Johnson's first design commission was for a forty-story office tower for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation widely featured in that studio's major motion picture, Die Hard. The completion of that project led to additional commissions for high-rise buildings, notably San Francisco's Rincon Center, a twin residential tower project that included the restoration of the historic Rincon Postal Annex and was chronicled in Douglas Franz's 1991 book From the Ground Up. In Southern California, Mr. Johnson is known as the designer of tall buildings such as SunAmerica Center, MGM Tower and the Nestlé headquarters, and he is currently designing skyscrapers in Japan, China, Texas and San Diego, as well as a new generation of mixed-use residential towers throughout the Los Angeles region.
