acorn from George Washington s tomb that was presented by an
American to Russian Emperor Nicholas I, planted on the Tsaritsyn
Island in
Peterhof
and still alive there.
Maria Filimonova s article deals with the Continental army of the
American Revolution. The author analyses the way it was looked
upon by the contemporaries. She tries to explore the reasons why
the army that won independence for the United States could not
win confidence of the Americans.

in his article examines Russian-American economic
relations in the Northern-Western part of America in the late

USSR, the difficulties they met there. On the basis of recently
published Russian archival documents and those in the US
National Archives the author proves that major troubles were
caused by limitations imposed by the Government upon carrying
out their incomes in hard currency, and by the Soviet labor
enormous demands to concessionaires.

Andrei Ivashev in his study analyses intensification of apparent
contradictions in Russia-US relations from Eltsin s Adminstration
