Zusammenfassung: | "T.H. Jones was unusual if not unique in that throughout a significant part of his creative life he maintained, in bound manuscript volume, a copy of every poem he completed - the 'Black Book'. This volume contains his complete poetry and provides a unique chronological evocation of a poet's life, loves, aspirations and despairs, from adolescence to premature death." "The collection documents the life and emotion of an English-speaking Welshman who came to maturity in an historical period of worldwide turmoil. After a short period as a student at Aberystwyth, Jones volunteered for military service during the Second World War, and as a Signals Telegraphist abroad a minesweeper in the Mediterranean, underwent experiences both frightening and formative. After the war he taught English in Portsmouth and then emigrated to Australia to become a lecturer at the new University of South Wales, a post which he held until the end of his life in 1965."--BOOK JACKET. |
