rejoindre mon père en France,
Hanna
vient tous les jours à la
maison. Pour mon père, vivre sans nous est une épreuve. Nous lui
manquons, la décision est prise. Moi, au début, je n ai rien ressenti,
je ne savais pas quel effet ça faisait d être là-bas. Ensuite, je me
suis mis à vivre avec une inquiétude tenace que je trimballais
partout. Et la tristesse en prime

J ai prévenu l école de mon départ. La maîtresse est ravie pour
moi. Elle dit qu en France, ilya des feuxverts et rouges quirèglent
la circulation, des cabines d ascenseur dans les maisons très
hautes, des trains qui roulent dans les tunnels.

Quand j ai répondu Nanterre, elle était moins ravie pour moi...

Charef raconte les tribulations d un petit garçon dont la vie n a pas
toujours été facile. Pour vivre, il a dû se battre

de ses ancêtres, comme en France, son nouveau pays d accueil, au
milieu des années
i960.
Humaniste et généreux, l auteur dresse un
tableau attachant de sa famille et propose le récit de son expérience
d immigré.
Mehdi Charef est écrivain, cinéaste et dramaturge. Sa pièce
1962
vient d être montée au théâtre. Il est l auteur du Thé au harem
d Archi
Ahmed
(1983)
et de La maison d Alex ma
(1999).
