Zusammenfassung:"The exploration of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) has brought up many interesting findings about groups of cooperating individuals, the process of cooperation, and phenomena like group awareness both in co-located and geographically distributed gruops as well as technical support thereof. However, CSCW ist [sic] still often considered as an isolated field of research and in several other fields (of computer science) collaborative aspects are neglected. This thesis argues that particularly in global Internet-based information systems like the World-Wide-Web, where millions of users interact with the system at the same time, but are isolated from each other, this neglecting is obvious and obstructive. It investigates the adequate support for cooperation in global Internet-based information systems. In particular, this thesis presents the results from a thorough literature study into CSCW and groupware as well as global Internet-based information systems for single users, for groups, and for communities. And it derives requirements for a useable and useful cooperative global Internet-based information system. Furthermore, it describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a prototype for a Computer-Supported Cooperative World-Wide Web (CSCW3), which combines global Internet-based information systems with CSCW."--cover p.4
