Summary:This publication is complementary to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's legal and regulatory work as it presents a comprehensive approach to a cost-benefit analysis of transport infrastructure projects. Its objective is to ensure a broadly comparable basis for alternative infrastructure projects and present them in a way that facilitates review and analysis. It puts the socio-economic cost-benefit analysis in the context of a wider project and investment appraisal, which also covers safety, environment and policy related aspects. In the framework of such concept the wider economic impacts of a project are analyzed, which maybe of particular interest to the local, regional and national governments of the country. Outside of the transport sector, these wide economic impacts are also observed in the labor market, in other production sectors, and in the land and property market.--Publisher's description.
