Summary:Abstract: "Statecharts are well accepted in industrial applications for specifying reactive, embedded systems. Unfortunately, a reference semantics has not been developed until now. Therefore, the semantics of Statecharts is still of interest in the science community. This paper presents a compositional, denotational semantics for a special subclass of Statecharts based on stream processing functions. The basic component of Mini-Statecharts is a deterministic, reactive, signal- triggered sequential automaton which can be composed in multiple ways. The composition operators are: parallel composition, local signal-scoping, semantic feedback of signals, and decomposition of states. The main issues are the compositionality of the semantics, the definition of the semantic behavior for a kind of history mechanism, and the different views of the feedback operator."
