Utrecht University.
Effective Teaching and Learning of Writing
describes the current state of the art in
research on the way in which children
acquire skills in written text production
and defines the features of instruction
that can play a part in teaching such skills.
The chapters in the first part focus on
research by ‘reflective practitioners’:
teachers who identify a problem in the
teaching of writing skills and propose a
solution to it. The second part discusses
research in which the solution to the
educational problem involves the use of
computers. Part three contains formal
research into effective approaches to the
teaching of writing, and the concluding
section focuses on feedback procedures
and effective peer-group interaction
between pupils and interaction between
pupil and teacher.
Effective Teaching and Learning of Writing
is a reviewed selection of contributions of
members of the Special Interest Group
on Writing of the European Association
of Research on Learning and Instruction.
