Summary:Abstract: "This paper presents a general method to parallelizing SPICE2, the de facto standard circuit simulator in industry, on shared- memory multiprocessors. The method extracts parallel tasks at the algorithmic level for each CPU-intensive module and is designed for a wide range of high-performance computer systems. The implementation of the method in SPICE2 resulted in a portable parallel direct circuit simulator, PARASPICE. The superior performance of PARASPICE is demonstrated on an eight-CE Alliant FX/80 using a number of benchmark circuits."
