Summary:Towing-tank experiments were conducted in order to investigate the wavemaking of horizontally-oriented vorticity in a wake. It was found that the amplitudes of the surface disturbance, measured with three capacitance wires, were about one tenth of those generated by a ship model of the same length and Froude number. Furthermore, the wave resistance was about one percent of that obtained for a Series-60 model of the same wetted-surface area. (Author).
