ABSTRACT
The Pharmacy, an ensemble of sciences, an art and a profession , has
always been and shall have to remain an important institution of public health,
and its servants, the pharmacists, people of science and of culture have been
involved to a smaller or greater extent in almost all the domains of human life.
Each science has its own history, it is the work of its servants, who should
be acknowledged, respected and cherished for their contribution to its making,
affirmation and development.
The history of the Romanian pharmacy and of its servants, the
pharmacists, is unfortunately less known and the literature in this field is quite
poor and scanty.
In
1906,
a pharmacist from Moldova, Dimitrie
Nicolau, (1867-
1916)published with the
Speranţa
printing shop in Bucharest, the paper Our
Pharmacists including biographical data and the activity of over
200
pharmacists
of that time in
Tara Romaneasca.
From that time up to now no other work has
appeared describing the life and activity of practising pharmacists either in urban
or rural regions of this country.
The paper Portraits of Romanian Pharmacists tries to emphasise, to shed
light on and to update the fruitful activity in the domain of public health of the
Romanian practising pharmacists who have passed away.
The paper presents their biographical portraits, work and
accomplishments over the years and especially during the last hundred years.
By their activity in urban or rural pharmacy laboratories, an activity which
should be continued, they contributed along
tihe
years to the increase of the
prestige of pharmacy as a profession, as they were examples of hard work,
correctness, honesty, humanity, understanding for human sufferance and love for
their profession, which they served with love, passion and determination.
By mentioning their names and achievements we honour their memory
and pay our tribute of respect, appreciation and gratitude.
The paper completes our previous work The Pharmacy and the
Romanian Society for the History of Pharmacy over the years , University of
Oradea
Press,
2005
and it is of service to all who are in this old and noble
profession and are interested to know the past of the Romanian pharmacy and of
its servants.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG
Die Pharmaziewissenschaft als „Verbindung zwischen Wissenschaft,
Kunst und Beruf , ist immer eine bedeutende Institution öffentlicher
Gesundheit und ihre Diener, Kulturleute und Wissenschaftler, haben sich
ständig in allen Bereichen des öffentlichen Lebens engagiert.
Jede Wissenschaft weist eine eigene Geschichte auf, die als Summe der
Arbeitserträge der Pharmaziewissenschaftler zu betrachten ist.
Die Geschichte der rumänischen Pharmaziewissenschaft und ihrer
Persönlichkeiten ist weniger bekannt und die Literatur zu diesem Thema
mangelt und ist leider unausführlich.
1906 gibt der moldawische Pharmazist, Dimitrir Nicolau (1867-1916) in
Mitarbeit mit der Bukarester Druckerei
„Speranţa
seine Arbeit „Unsere
Pharmaziewissenschaftler heraus. Die Arbeit beinhaltet bibliographische
Daten von über zweihundert Pharmaziewissenschaftler aus der Walachei.
Seitdem ist in der Fachliteratur keine Veröffentlichung der Art.
Die Arbeit
„Portraits
rumänischer Pharmaziewissenschaftler versucht
die fruchtbare Tätigkeit rumänischer Pharmaziewissenschaftler ans Licht zu
schaffen und hervorzuheben.
Es werden die Lebensportraits mancher Pharmaziewissenschaftler
gemacht und ihre Errungenschaften hervorgehoben unterstrichen
Durch ihre musterhafte Tätigkeit in den kleinen Pharmazielaboren auf
dem Land oder in den Städten, haben sie Jahr um Jahr zur Prestige der
Branche beigetragen. Sie haben sich nicht nur als besonders gute
Professionisten sondern auch als richtige Moralvorbilder etabliert.
Die hiesige Arbeit ergänzt und vollständigt einen eigenen ehemaligen
Beitrag „Pharmaziewissenschaft und die rumänische Gesellschaft für
Geschichte der Pharmaziewissenschaft im Laufe der Zeit erschienen im
Verlag der Universität
Oradea
im Jahre 2005. Der geleistete Beitrag ist
historischer Natur vmd möchte der Nachfolgerschaft eine Geschichte dieses
Berufes hinterlassen.
