Zusammenfassung:The Codex de la Cruz-Badianoʺ is the first book on medicinal plants to be written in Mexico and the Americas. Written in 1552 by the physician Martín de la Cruz, it lists 251 medicinal herbs commonly used by the Aztecs. The Libellus de Medicinalibus Indorum Herbis was written in the Aztec language Nahautl and translated into Latin by Juan Badiano and illustrated with beautiful drawings of medicinal plants in color, it remained unknown for centuries and was published for the first time until 1939. The present book combines centuries of ancient wisdom with contemporary scientific knowledge. Written by Mexican and German authors, experts in codices, herbalism, medicinal uses of plants, and other fields, this work celebrates the fusion of cultures and the exploration of Mexico's past as a source of inspiration for the future
