| Zusammenfassung: | Abstract: Medical history was one important offshoot of the New Historiography movement emerging in Taiwan during the 1990s. In contrast to the history of medicine commonly analyzed by medical doctors which focuses mostly on the clinical perspective, research on the history of traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan places greater emphasis on tracing its historical and cultural origins and guiding spirit. This book contains five independent but interrelated articles on the history of traditional Chinese medicine. The content centers on the author's reflections and thoughts gathered from years of study of the history of traditional Chinese medicine, and discuss the representative works and figures of this burgeoning field of study. By combing through large amounts of historical materials both medical and non-medical in nature, this book addresses images of death as well as the depth of fear and panic induced by illnesses in ancient China. |
