Summary:Abstract: "This report presents results from the simulation of two networks, a 100 Mb/s SuperNetwork and a 100 Mb/s FDDI network. Two versions of SuperNetwork are evaluated -- the normal SuperNetwork, in which at any instant, each contending packet has an equal likelihood of being selected for broadcast, and a deterministic SuperNetwork, in which there is a bound on the maximum transmission delay for any packet. The simulation results compare the performance of these networks for large and small LAN's under a wide range of loads. In all cases, the packet transmission delay in SuperNetwork is less than that experienced in the FDDI network."
