Zusammenfassung: | This book develops a Marxist theory of literary style. The first part explains why Raymond Williams, Terry Eagleton and Fredric Jameson came to see style as central to political criticism. It delineates the historical and conceptual preconditions for the emergence of a 'politics of style', and uncovers an underground current of stylistics within the Marxist tradition from Marx to Barthes. The second part sets out precisely what each thinker has written on style and demonstrates how this came to figure in their overall intellectual and political projects, focusing above all on a detailed reconstruction of Williams's best-known concept, the 'structure of feeling'. Finally, the third part sets out an independent theory of style and makes an ambitious attempt to establish it as a foundational element of a new Marxist poetics. |

Finally, the third part sets out an independent theory of style and makes an ambitious attempt to establish it as a foundational element of a new Marxist poetics.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Williams, Raymond.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Eagleton, Terry,</subfield><subfield code="d">1943-</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n50030201</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jameson, Fredric.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Eagleton, Terry,</subfield><subfield code="d">1943-</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJd86JqJvJkYKqTwtk4Xh3</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Jameson, Fredric</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJd89qjXxrK4hFphFPj3cP</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="600" ind1="1" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Williams, Raymond</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJcR6BGhq6tTQw8QDCYF8C</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Socialism and literature.</subfield><subfield code="0">http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85124131</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="6"><subfield code="a">Socialisme et littérature.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Composition & Creative Writing.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES</subfield><subfield code="x">Rhetoric.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">REFERENCE</subfield><subfield code="x">Writing Skills.</subfield><subfield code="2">bisacsh</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Socialism and literature</subfield><subfield code="2">fast</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="758" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">has work:</subfield><subfield code="a">The politics of style (Text)</subfield><subfield code="1">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCFK3vjKkp4J4mPM6yPhbkC</subfield><subfield code="4">https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Print version:</subfield><subfield code="a">Hartley, Daniel (Lecturer in English and American literature).</subfield><subfield code="t">Politics of style.</subfield><subfield code="d">Leiden ; Boston : Brill, [2016]</subfield><subfield code="z">9789004287617</subfield><subfield code="w">(DLC) 2016033399</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Historical Materialism Book Ser.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="0"><subfield code="l">FWS01</subfield><subfield code="p">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield><subfield code="q">FWS_PDA_EBA</subfield><subfield code="u">https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&AN=1456079</subfield><subfield code="3">Volltext</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBL - Ebook Library</subfield><subfield code="b">EBLB</subfield><subfield code="n">EBL4790447</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">EBSCOhost</subfield><subfield code="b">EBSC</subfield><subfield code="n">1456079</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ProQuest MyiLibrary Digital eBook Collection</subfield><subfield code="b">IDEB</subfield><subfield code="n">cis36117330</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="938" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">YBP Library Services</subfield><subfield code="b">YANK</subfield><subfield code="n">13399942</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="994" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">92</subfield><subfield code="b">GEBAY</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="912" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">ZDB-4-EBA</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="049" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">DE-863</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |

Williams, Raymond.
