ABOUT THE BOOK The book Writingsfrom Prizren, the Source, could be at first classi fied as a travelogue. The author describes her own travels to Kosovo and Metohija, primarily to Prizren, in fourteen autonomous and connected stories. The first story, Heading home after so many years, places a reader in Sredačka župa, in the vicinity of Prizren, close to the spring where Nada s origins lie. Subsequently, through stories and picturesque depictions, the writer takes us to Prizren and the church Bogorodica Ljeviška (Our Lady of Ljeviš) along with all other holy places in Prizren, continuing to Orahovac, Velika Носа and the following monasteries: Pecka patrijaršija (Patriarchate of Peć), Visoki Decani, Gračanica, Zočište, Gorioč, Devic, Banjska, and Sokolica, the significant Serbian holy places. Those places were built in magical countryside and present the sources of faith, strength and love. In the story, we follow in her footsteps and well-trodden paths, but we also take the new roads of Kosovo and Metohija. In addition, the stories contain historical data about the holy places that Nada visited on these journeys, evoking them with words of an ex perienced curator, providing data about the year of their construction, the donors, as well as significance of these holy places in terms of history and culture of Serbian people. While reading these parts of the stories, the readers who have already visited these places will be reminded of their importance, and those who have never visited them will learn some new facts and will definitely wish to follow in Nada s footsteps. It is
the first feature of this book. The concept of told stories generated during the period of six years (from 2013, when the writer came back to her homeland for the first time after being displaced in 1999, to September 2019) is closely connected to Nada s poetry, so the stories have been enriched with some verses. The convoy of Serbian people, with whom Nada left Prizren in 1999 (at the age of 40), is emotionally approaching readers through verses and prose.

Emotions are striking when she tells us that her brother, niece and nephews have been largely responsible for her return to homeland. With their love for ancestral home, they have evoked hope that not all is over. Knowledge that young generation will cherish the roots and the very source of their origins, encourages Nada to do her best in order to make the roots stronger and her homeland a place of serenity and grace. Nada tells us about her origins, her family, about Sredačka župa and Prizren, about her love for those places and people she is attached to and who she wants to be remembered through her words, together with certain facts and her views as a lawyer. Thus it becomes an autobiographic account, which presents the second feature of the book. What is the most important is that the book Writingsfrom Prizren, the Source is a kind of document, since the writer bears testimony of life in Prizren and Kosovo and Metohija during her childhood and youth. The author also speaks of the District Court in Prizren and the role she had there as a judge. Especially important part is the one showing how people respected one another, how they cherished tradition and celebrated St. Patron Days and other holidays, what life and relations between people looked like before and during the war in 1999 and later when she came back to Prizren. On every subsequent travel to Kosovo and Metohija, she has been recording all the changes she
encountered in relation to life and relationships between people there. The author speaks of spiritual renewal, being the prerequisite for every other renewal. She has been following and making notes on the restoration of holy places, starting with the church of family Radivojević, continuing to the restoration of other holy places of Sredačka župa. She recounts how people celebrate holidays at present time, how many peo ple gather at those places and she also records the restoration of Serbian Orthodox Seminary in Prizren and all other holy places she had visited, revealing to the readers who deserves the credit for everything that has been achieved there so far. The book also records how people live in Serbian enclaves now, what education children have, how they grow up, what kind of freedom of movement people have. The author also writes about the state of human rights in Kosovo and Metohija and through words and photos she makes
437 ABOUT THE BOOK notes, for all future generations, about many churches and monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija being brought to life by monks and liturgical life. Those are places of refuge for many people who lost their homes there, but also for people who remained to live in that region. Beside restoration of holy places, the writer bears testimony of certain new social events occurring in Prizren, which are of great significance for Serbian spirituality. In addition, and what is very important, the book keeps records of names and work and commitment of many young peo ple who work with a lot of effort on organizing numerous trips, promo tions and cultural events in Prizren (some of which are internationally important, such as the Festival of Medieval Music “Medimus“), but also on publishing books, preparing exhibitions and the like. In this manner, Prizren is being kept in minds and hearts of young generations, originat ing from Kosovo and Metohija, and Serbia in general. This third, proved and historical feature of the book, is significant for future generations with the clear message at the end - through res toration of holy places, we are renewed as people, thus we can last in this holy region and always bear in mind that we must not abandon that part of our country. ABOUT THE BOOK The book Writingsfrom Prizren, the Source, could be at first classi fied as a travelogue.
