Zusammenfassung:The 2020 exhibition is the second edition of the beautiful exhibition "Asia: the earth, men, the gods". Inaugurated in March 2018, the show had a renovation of about 50% form the first exhibits and began to be divided by nuclei of regions and civilizations. This new configuration better visualizes what a small house in Japan was like or the cabinet of a Mandarin literati in 17th century China, for example. Two years ago, diplomat Fausto Godoy of Sao Paulo, donated to MON a collection of nearly 3,000 Asian pieces of Asian art gathered by him throughout his career as ambassador to countries such as China, Japan, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Iran, Afghanistan and Myanmar. During this period, the ambassador made some visits to the museum, to analyze, evaluate and make sure the good conditions of the space to house a collection of this size. Before that, institutions and collectors vied for the collection. After careful evaluation, he decided to donate to the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. This collection was in line with the new curatorial line proposed by the MON cultural council, with an emphasis on Asian, African and Latin American art, in line with the great museums of the world, making it distinct from the Eurocentric trend that dominates Western culture. With this donation, MON now has around 7,000 works in its collection, in addition to one of the most significant Asian collections in Brazil and South America. "This book, as well as the exhibition that inspired it, is a miniature of the collection that comprises the Japanese set of nested dolls with its seven gods of good luck (although this idea came from China), is a world within itself." --Page 162
