t the time of the expansion of the Ottoman Empire towards the western parts of the Balkans, the area of Prijepolje, ie the area of the central part of Sandžak, was located on the path of the Ottoman army. Then, at the request of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II Fatih, in the period of the years 1463/65, a large bridge was built on the Lim River in Prijepolje. There are several origi nal historical documents, starting from the 16th century, which confirm that Sultan Mehmed Fatih was the buil der of the Prijepolje bridge on the Lim River. Throughout the past centuries, this bridge has been washed away se veral times in the great floods of Lim or damaged during war battles, but after all that, this bridge has always been rebuilt. The name “Fatihs bridge” has lived on through the centuries that have passed, the floods and the war destruction.
