About The Conference
The International Congress of Plastics in Agriculture
(Comité
International
des
Plastiques
en Agriculture,
CIPA)
is an international forum which reports on advances and
recent developments on the use of plastics in agriculture.
In March,
1997,
researchers from
31
countries participated in CIPA s international
conference held in Tel Aviv. To allow for the large number of presentations, the congress
was conducted in five parallel sections encompassing one hundred and thirty lectures
and posters. Six Plenary lectures were given by eminent research authorities.
In addition, several important formal and informal workshops were conducted during
the regular and leisure hours of the Congress.
Social and professional aspects of the conference were enhanced by three full-day
field trips which offered participants an opportunity to see first-hand the implementation
of recent developments in agricultural cooperatives around Israel. One of the day trips
was dedicated to the memory of the late
Prof. Moshe Zeroni,
the first chairman of the
Protected Cultivation Section.
This compendium of the conference lectures is an extension of CIPA s function as a
primary source and resource for current information and its distribution.
